Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres
- Manufacturing Expo
Driving the Electric Revolution Industrialisation Centres (DER-IC) is a UK-wide project developing the UK’s clean and resilient supply chains in power electronics, machines and drives (PEMD).
DER-IC is funded by UK Research and Innovation and was set up in 2020 as part of the Driving the Electric Revolution Challenge. DER-IC will provide open access facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, bringing together the UK’s technology and manufacturing expertise in electrification research and development.
While we have outstanding academic capability in the UK with 4 of the top 10 global universities and strong industrial research through RTOs such as the Catapult network, the PEMD capability is not widely known, certainly not by global industry in all the key sectors associated with DER-IC.
The DER-IC programme aims to raise the profile and build on this capability to further capitalise on global electrification. Specifically, our Centres will focus on harnessing this capability to support industry as they build this PEMD supply chain.
Across the UK, more than 30 partner research and technology organisations support the project.
